China is again struck with a new, alarming virus that attacks the lungs and respiratory tract in children. The outbreak in the country has been going on since May, and now, the country's medical service faces thousands of patients daily.

China is currently facing a new virus causing respiratory abnormalities, including Pneumonia. The National Health Commission of China reported the first “Pneumonia Outbreak” case on November 13, 2023. Since then, there has been a sudden hike in children's hospitalization cases. This week, the situation became even more intense and gained the attention of the World Health Organization. Concerning the large number of abnormal pneumonia cases in China, the organisation asked for current reports. A Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases (ProMED) statement on undiagnosed pneumonia cases in children is requested from the China Health Department.
According to the latest reports, the virus originated in northern China and then spread Nationwide. Most of the severe pneumonia cases are recorded in Beijing, the country’s capital, Beijing. However, the viral outbreak has reached northeastern Liaoning province and other areas in China.

This week, WHO issued a report, “According to China’s health department, known pathogens, such as influenza virus, adenoviruses, and RSV, cause the pneumonia outbreak”. It is associated with mild symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing, and coughing.
